Please be quiet, this is a library!

When did the library become the place to socialize?
Point Park University was my first choice because of its strong program in broadcasting. Yes, it's a small school, which would lead one to think that it would be quieter. However, this isn't the case at the University Center library. Rarely will one see a person in a designated cell phone area actually on their phone. It's more convenient to talk on your phone when you're behind a computer than to get up and be polite to others.
Why is it possible to study in the Carnegie Library in Oakland, which is public? Because there is respect for what it is - a library. At the UC library, it's frustrating to even attempt to do projects or to simply study because of students socializing using their cell phones.
Please, shut up; some of us are preparing for our future. Those of us who live off campus don't have the luxury of running to our dorm room to escape distractions. This library becomes our only source of solitude.
Caving into peer pressure is something that should have been gone when you entered into adulthood. This is college, and we all pay to be here, so why don't you go to a cafe to hang out or to a designated area to talk on the phone? If you haven't noticed, Point Park isn't cheap, and the average student spends over $20,000 a year to attend this university.
If our buildings require security guards at the door, couldn't we have security guards monitoring the floors as well?
