Sophomores to test out new living accommodations

The trend of the Living Learning Communities (LLC) has been extended to the sophomore suites, meaning that any sophomore living in Pioneer Hall can live in a community. The new program is called the Sophomore Experience Communities (SEC) and it will be similar to the current LLC in Lawrence and Thayer Halls.

"Monsters vs. Aliens" Review

Monsters VS Aliens is a 3-D movie geared for younger audiences; however, there is a lot of subtle humor and references that children would not understand. The movie pays homage to several old monster movies and alien movies in a parodied fashion. The movie does come in two forms: one being in 3-D and the other in the more traditional movie format.

Economic problems not affecting Academic Village project

Despite national economic problems, Point Park and its $210 million Academic Village project are still doing fine, Point Park University President Paul Hennigan said at a press conference last Thursday. The press conference was called for both an update on the progress of the project one year after it was announced and its economic impact.

Mexican architect displays work in Pittsburgh

The Carnegie Museum of Art's current display, "Laboratory of Architecture" by Mexican architect Fernando Romero, marks a special place in both the museum's history and Romero's career. This exhibit is Romero's first at the Carnegie Museum. The display, which began in February and will run through May 31, includes 20 projects of illuminated models of architecture in Mexico City.

Summer Concert Series

Although the economy is struggling the summer concert series is booming. Well-known artists, such as Bruce Springsteen and the Jonas Brothers are coming to give Pittsburgh a lift. Through the summer of 2009, many of Pittsburgh's big venues, like the Mellon Arena, the Post-Gazette Pavilion and Heinz Field, will be hosting concerts.

CMU shows porn film, causing mixed reactions through Point Park

Carnegie Mellon University has chosen to include a hardcore porn film as part of their film series, causing mixed reactions from Point Park University students and faculty as they begin to wonder if their own college would ever show something like this. "The New Devil in Miss Jones" is a porn film that played Thursday April 26, in a general, on-campus auditorium open to all CMU students.
